Week 16

Hi there!

This week we will:
-Introduce fractions, parts of a whole
-Introduce proper fractions vs improper fractions
-Introduce simplying fractions
-Discuss using diagrams and videos

We will spiral review:
-Multiplication using lattice
-Long division with remainders

Dates to remember:

-Timed math test for 10 /11 on Wednesday, December 14.
-Classwork packet due Thursday completed
-Christmas review packets will be due on January 3, 2017 when students return.

-Libraries of Love-Book Drive for Africa
Our Libraries of Love Book Drive is on!  We will collect donations of new or gently used HARD COVER books that will go to Africa for the children. This year, we are helping Libraries of Love build 7 new libraries in the Maasai Country in Kenya.  We are so excited to be part of this project. Our school will have a Walk to Read Event on Friday, Jan. 13 at 1:15 and will collect more books and donations until that day.  Learn more at https://librariesoflove.org/.  Clean out your bookshelves and donate books for a great cause.  Our goal is for each child to donate one gently used or new hard cover book for Libraries of Love.  Spread the word and help us out. Week 14-15

Hello families,

This week we finished up geometry and is spiraling back to long multiplication and division.

We will:
- Practice and learning higher level multiplication and division until the end of next week.
- Multi-step word problem
- Perfect square numbers and simple square root

We will spiral review:
-Vrious angles
-Measuring angles
-Complementary and supplementary angles

Upcoming tests and events:

-Timed math quiz for x9 and /9 will be next Friday, December 9.
-Literacy night-December 9, 5-7pm
-Choir Tour -December 6.
-DCA for Unit 4 and 5- December 8.

Week 9

Hello families!

This week we are slowly finishing up long division and 2 by 2 standard multiplication and lattice. The students have been working hard to understand the algorithms and I am very happy with their overall progress. We will be having a District Common Assessment on Thursday for Unit 3. Next week, we will be taking a short break on multiplication and division concepts and focus on geometry concepts. Please help students continue to memorize their math facts and practice their timed math daily.

Upcoming schedule:

Wednesday, October 20- DCA
Friday, October 21- Timed math quiz on X6, /6.

* First quarter marking period ends this Friday. Any missing work and corrections should be handed in by Thursday.

Hi families!

This week we are working on standard multiplication algorithms and the Lattice method of multiplication. We will spiral review rounding, factors and multiples and continue to work on subtraction with regrouping.

It is really important to have students practice and memorize multiplication facts. Please help them practice their timed math sheets everyday.

Hello, Families,

-We are wrapping up place value, addition and subtraction review this week and we have been going through the various multiplication properties and writing them in our math journals.

-We are currently practicing x4 and /4 this week and next week.

-We will have our first math District Common Assessment this week on Thursday.

-There is no written homework for math this week. Please continue to practice timed math everyday.

Hello families!! Welcome to 4th grade!!!! I am very excited to start a new year with you!!!


Things to know:


The first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 23. The doors open at 7:15. Fourth graders meet in the hallway and sit outside their classroom door until 7:30. Bring a book to read while you sit quietly. The tardy bell will ring at 7:40 am. The school day ends at 2:50 pm. Be sure that you know how you are getting home from school each day.

Bring a jacket or sweater for the classroom. It can be cold in our classrooms. 

Bring a water bottle and a healthy snack each day.

Be sure that you have a book to read each day in your backpack.

Back to School Night for grades 3-5 is Thursday September 1 at 6:00 p.m. Teacher presentations will be in the classrooms from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. Then Mrs. Lehnick,our principal, will have a short presentation in the cafeteria. I look forward to seeing you there and sharing information about our expectations, procedures, and policies in fourth grade.

WEEK 23



Hello Parents!

I hope that you had a wonderful three day weekend. Here is what we are covering this week.

We are finishing up Geometry which includes; recognition of the different types of lines and angles,
regular and irregular polygons, determining various angles with a protractor and without, congruent and similiar shapes, symmetry, and complimentary angles.


-We will have a\Unit 8 DCA this Wednesday ( 2/17/16 ).
-Timed math quiz on Thursday (2/18/16)
-Geometry unit test on Friday, ( 2/19/16 ).


NO Homework was assigned this week.

Week 19


Hello families! I hope that you had a great three day weekend.

This week we will review and go over the class work packet including long division, 3 by 2 multiplication, area and graphs. We will also continue to work on area and perimeter, review various fractions concepts and start learning 3 by 3 multiplication and lattice.

-We are working on the 12 times tables this week and the quiz will be next Friday, January 29.
-There is no written homework this week for math.

WEEK 17-

Hello  families! Happy New Year and I  hope that you had a wonderful Christmas  break!!

This week we will review fractions, work on higher level multiplication and division problems and work on number patterns such as one-tenth of a number.

We will also review for the District DCA-Unit 5. The DCA will be givin on Friday, January 8.

* There will be no homework assigned for this week but please have students review math facts 2-11. We are currently working on 10 and 11 facts.
